Cleaning Chrome
Read the label to make sure that it states the product is safe for chrome-plated
plastic trim. Some multi-purpose products will clean and protect both true
chrome and chrome-plated plastic trim. However, do not use a standard chrome
or metal polish on chrome-plated plastic trim.
How do you tell the difference between true chrome and chrome-plated
plastic? The easiest way is by tapping it with the metal edge of a screwdriver. You'll hear a metallic ringing sound
if it's chrome, but not if it's plastic. Make sure your vehicle has been
washed and dried first and then apply the polish or lotion with a soft, clean
cloth. Follow the manufacturer's directions and buff to a high shine. |
